“I’m not the J. Cole of South Africa, I’m the Shane Eagle of the world,” said Shane Eagle aka Shane Hughes after being asked about comparisons to rappers like Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and Drake. The rapper who also draws inspiration from singers like Frank Ocean and Amy Winehouse, released his debut album, Yellow in 2017, with standout track, “DNGO.” A year later, Eagle turned around and released the EP, Never Grow Up which reaches it’s height on the final track, “Purple Rain.”

In 2019, at age 23, Shane Eagle broke through his glass ceiling with the release of the album, Dark Moon Flower. The album has features from Lute, The Hics, Caleborate, Nasty C, Santi, Bas, Kota the Friend, and more. Look to “Up 1,” featuring Lute, “Let Go” featuring The Hics, “PARIS” featuring Nasty C, “Birdz” featuring J-Tek, and “Vanya” featuring Santi & Bas for the album’s best tracks.
