V!lla aka Vabyface aka Robert James Hishaw III is a rapper from Baton Rouge, LA. After being exposed to legendary artists like Michael Jackson and Lil Wayne early in his life, V!lla began singing at the young age of 5 before he started freestyling with his friends at school around the age of 14. Once he heard good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar in 2012, V!lla knew he wanted to start taking music seriously. Along with Kendrick, V!lla lists his other major influences as Pharrell Williams and XXXTENTACION. Today, he describes his sound as a hypnotizing, psych vibe with some boom bap. He also says that he has a dark, ambient sound with vulnerable lyrics.
Around 2014, V!lla had an idea to start a music collective. About a year later, he formed COL-DER-SAC along with JoshSimmons and Wakai. Eventually, COL-DER-SAC added two more artists in Ronday and NoChvll to form the 5-man collective it is today. After releasing a handful of singles, V!lla released his debut EP, This Is Not a Love Story in 2022. The project was highlighted by the closing track, “NO TIES.” In 2023, V!lla has gone 3/3 releasing his best 3 songs all this year, including “Imadethistoproveapoint.mp3,” “Tracksinthesnow.mp3,” and “MerryGoRoun’.” According to his team, he has one more song, “CalvinCambridge” ready to go in the vault, set to be released very soon.
