Founder of ICE COLD RECORDS, ICECOLDBISHOP aka Reginald Rainey III is one of the most interesting rappers coming out of LA. Bishop started rapping at age 15 and says that he has turned down million-dollar record deals. Still, he has employees of labels like Interscope and Keep Cool on his team. ICECOLDBISHOP lists some of his favorite rappers as 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, and the late, Nipsey Hussle and has plans to make ICE COLD RECORDS a household name. He says his visions for the label are modeled after his admiration of J. Cole's Dreamville and 50 Cent's G-Unit.
Launching his career by focusing mostly on singles and features, ICECOLDBISHOP built up a lot of hype in the years leading up to his debut album. Between 2017-2020, ICECOLDBISHOP has released just a handful of tracks; “Porch,” “Katana” with Teddy Andreas, “Irate,” “Creep” featuring Mick Jenkins, “Bitch Please” featuring JAHMED, “Push to Start (Freestyle),” and “Dickies Suit” & “Trick Daddy,” both produced by Kenny Beats. His standout features include Grip's “Bishop Speaks ... Matter,” Take A Daytrip's “Lighthouse” also featuring Rico Nasty and Slowthai, and Kembe X’s “Keitel Sword.” ICECOLDBISHOP and Kembe X would run it back later in 2020 on “Back At It,” also featuring Ab-Soul.
In 2020, ICECOLDBISHOP posted a picture in the studio with The Alchemist, Boldy James, and Chuck Inglish, hinting that the four were working on a track together. This would end up being for the 2021 Boldy James & The Alchemist track, “Hot Water Tank,” on which Bishop was featured. This is just one of ICECOLDBISHOP’s great features in the year 2021. Other notable features include AG Club’s “NOHO,” the Keep Cool track, “Glory” also featuring Mez, VanJess, Ginette Claudette, and Gwen Bunn, and Malik Elijah’s “Blinding.” As for what’s to come, in 2020, ICECOLDBISHOP made a post hinting at a full project produced by Plain Pat and Dot Da Genius, a pair most known for their work with Kid Cudi.
In 2022, ICECOLDBISHOP had a couple more noteworthy features. He landed a feature on The Cool Kids’ return album on the song, “B.B.T.” also featuring Trinidad James, G Perico, and FAT RON. Later that same year, he was featured on REASON’s “Sign Language.” In March 2023, ICECOLDBISHOP finally dropped his debut album, GENERATIONAL CURSE with standout tracks, “FULL FLEDGE,” “CANDLELIGHT,” and “CURSED.”
