Goldie Rebel aka Joseph Townsel makes music that is truly representative of the roots of Memphis hip-hop. With some of his biggest influences being Memphis legends like the duo, 8ball & MJG, as well as Project Pat, this only makes sense. Still, Goldie Rebel lists other influences outside of Memphis as Pimp C, Wiz Khalifa, and Curren$y.

Goldie Rebel says that he started rapping around the age of 20, but it took him a couple of years to truly find his sound and become a true artist. After dropping a number of singles, primarily on SoundCloud, and a few mixtapes, Goldie Rebel released his debut project, Who TF is Goldie Rebel in June 2021 at age 27, a project that he describes as both a reintroduction and a summer classic. The project starts off with instant Memphis vibes on the Project Pat sampling, “I Do (Intro).” Other favorites from the project include “Quicksand” and “UFO in the Trap.” Goldie would waste no time, as he then released Goldie Summer in September 2021. Some tracks you’ll want to make sure you tune into include the intro, “Goldie Summer” featuring Kendrick P, the OutKast-inspired, “Live Thru Me,” and the remake of a Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg classic, “Nuthin’ But a G Thang.”
