A.N.I aka Lani is a rapper from Beaumont, TX, currently based in Chicago, IL. At the age of 11, A.N.I started playing the saxophone, helping him develop a love for music at a young age. However, it was not until college that he took up rapping, seeking another creative outlet. As he entered hip-hop, his childhood of playing saxophone helped shape his sound into what it is today, an alternative rap style that mixes elements of jazz and pop. He also draws this sound from some of his main influences, a list which includes Duckwrth, Saba, Isaiah Rashad, and Childish Gambino. He says about his music, “Usually, my songs are laidback and abstract, often making my music hopefully easy to listen to.”
A.N.I released his debut project, Channel OnePointFive - EP in December of 2021. The project is highlighted by the first two tracks, “Live To See” featuring 9toFyve and “Long Way” featuring Dre Wave$. Other must-listen A.N.I tracks include “Letterman,” a song where you can hear his Gambino influence, and “Favorite Song” featuring Al Wayne.
